Here’s your chance to showcase your work to a global network of experts, innovators, and industry leaders!

Objective

Submit your research or innovation for a chance to present it as a poster or oral presentation. We’re also inviting participants from the private sector to submit Industry Abstracts, which will be evaluated separately as part of a dedicated industrial track.

Calls for Proposals: HORIZON-CL6-2025-01-CIRCBIO-14

Bioprospecting and optimised production of marine/aquatic natural products in the omics & artificial intelligence era

Expected Outcomes:

Successful proposals should contribute to reaching the impacts of this destination, and European policies, in particular, the European Green Deal, the bioeconomy strategy, and the new approach for a blue economy. They should help harness the full potential of marine and freshwater biological resources, and blue biotechnology is leveraged to deliver societal benefits, such as greener, more environmentally friendly industrial products and processes, support public health and environmental conservation.

Calls for Proposals: CBE JU HORIZON-JU-CBE-2025-IA-01

Sustainable macroalgae systems for innovative, added-value applications: cultivation and optimised production systems

CBE JU has launched the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (HORIZON-JU-CBE-2025) call focused on Sustainable macroalgae systems for innovative, added-value applications: cultivation and optimised production systems.

Expected Outcomes:

Successful proposals will contribute to several key initiatives, including the EU Initiative on Biotech and Biomanufacturing, the EU Bioeconomy Strategy and its action plan, the Zero Pollution Action Plan, the implementation of the EU Strategy for a Sustainable Blue Economy and address the EC Communication ‘Towards a Strong and Sustainable EU Algae Sector’. Proposals should also align with the objectives of the Mission "Restore our Ocean and Waters by 2030", particularly Objective 3: "Make the blue economy carbon-neutral and circular".

I3-4-SEAWEED Open Call | Funding Opportunity for Algae Innovators

The I3-4-SEAWEED project has launched its Open Call on 20 August 2025, creating a unique opportunity for startups and SMEs working in the algae sector. With applications open until 22 October 2025, this initiative aims to accelerate innovation and strengthen Europe’s algae value chains.

What’s on offer?

Up to 30 promising projects will be selected to receive:

  • Financial support of up to €60,000
  • Tailored technical and business guidance to boost market readiness and growth

 

Thematic focus

The Open Call is looking for solutions that can advance two key areas of algae development:

  • Macroalgal Production Solutions – Enhancing cultivation methods both at sea and on land
  • Algal Biotechnology & Downstream Applications – Unlocking new value chains through innovative processing and analytics

 

Who can apply?

The call is open to SMEs and startups located in eligible European regions. Interested applicants are encouraged to review the full eligibility criteria and submission details available on the official website.

 

First Thematic Portfolio Call for Interest for Ongoing R&I Projects | by Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership

Selected projects will collaborate over two years (2026–2028), shaping joint roadmaps and benefitting from greater visibility, new collaboration opportunities, and access to strategic dialogues and SBEP events.

What’s on offer?

Targeted to ongoing R&I projects — funded by national, regional, or EU programmes — and aims to connect them in two thematic networking portfolios:

  • Sustainable small-scale fisheries
  • Algae cultivation and circular blue bioeconomy

Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership 3rd Transnational Call

The Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership has launched its third joint transnational call: Digitalisation and Innovation for Resilient Marine Ecosystems Businesses, and Communities to Strengthen the EU Blue Economy’s Competitiveness. Pre-applications are now open until 17 November 2025. This initiative aims to boost the transformation toward a climate-neutral, sustainable, productive, and competitive blue economy by 2030, while fostering a sustainable ocean for the people by 2050.

Funding & Priority Areas

This co-funded call pools resources across 28 countries, with support from the European Commission, totalling an estimated budget of EUR 43.5 million. Funding focuses on five priority areas:

  • Digital Twins of the Ocean
  • Transitioning blue economy sectors
  • Climate-smart planning and management of sea uses
  • Blue bioresources: sustainable fisheries, aquaculture, and new bio-based products
  • Resilient coastal communities and businesses
