This year's EMSEA conference is co-organised by EMSEA, VLIZ, EuroGOOS and EMODnet.

We are pleased to announce that the Call for Abstracts for the 11th EMSEA Annual Conference is now open. This meeting provides a vital platform for professionals, researchers, and advocates to engage in meaningful discussions on ocean literacy and related fields.

 Location: Ostend, Belgium
 Dates: 17–19 September 2025

The European Marine Science Educators Association (EMSEA) Annual Conference serves as a distinguished forum for the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and best practices in ocean literacy. Participants will have the opportunity to present their work, collaborate with peers, and contribute to shaping the future of ocean education and sustainability.

The European Marine Observation and Data Network (EMODnet), which powers the European Atlas of the Seas, is delighted to work with EMSEA, VLIZ and EuroGOOS on this important event.

Call for submissions

We invite abstract submissions for the following presentation formats:

  • Oral Presentations
  • Poster presentations
  • Indoor & outdoor workshops
