Be inspired by thought-provoking keynotes and real-world case studies. The SPLASH-EU’s series of online seminars focus on topics such as communication and education, pollution and citizen science, climate policy, blue innovation, social responses, and individual and collective action.
After a successful first edition in July — where participants from across Europe came together to learn, exchange, and take action — the SPLASH-EU team is excited to continue the journey. They return with two new interactive online seminars, bringing together scientists, community leaders, innovators, and ocean advocates to explore how we can collectively and individually respond to today’s ocean challenges.

🔹 Innovating for Climate and Oceans: Reflections and Real-World Impact
🗓️ 12 November 2025 | 15:00 CET
We will explore inspiring examples of science and innovation transforming ocean sustainability and climate resilience — from research labs to real-world application. For this session, we are delighted to host Stella Schaller, co-founder Reinventing Society and Maria Rosinda Teixeira Coelho, Executive Coordinator at B2E Blue Bioeconomy CoLAB. Besides, we will feature several amazing case studies presentations related to climate policies and blue innovations: Darren Axe presenting Green Office Movement, Carla Wessels presenting The Great Bubble Barrier®, Evsukova Catherine (Coalition Clean Baltic (CCB)), Luis Resende (Universidade de Coimbra), Joao M. Neto (Universidade de Coimbra, LIFE ADAPTABLUES project) and Leire Arantzamendi (BIOGEARS PROJECT).
🔹 Ocean Challenges: From Collective Responses to Individual Actions
🗓️ 14 November 2025 | 15:00 CET
This session invites us to reflect on the role of communities, institutions, and each of us as individuals in safeguarding the ocean — and to discover how everyday actions can make a meaningful difference. For this seminar, we are happy to welcome Luís Pereira, SPLASH-EU ambassador and president of the board of MoLima - Movimento para a Defesa do Rio Lima, alongside two valuable members of MARE - Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre: Zara Teixeira, Research Assistant at University of Évora and Prof. José Lino Costa, Associate Professor at the University of Lisbon. Also, we will hear some inspiring voices showing us how individuals and communities can make an impact: Sandra Lund (Baltic Living Lab), Kristin Rechberger (Revive Our Ocean), Anne Marie Kirwan (Clean Coasts), Djemila Tassin (Offshore Skipper and Young Ocean Advocate) and Valentina Lovat (Youth4Ocean Forum ).
The project SPLASH-EU is implemented by Universidade de Coimbra and MindMeUp LP with the support of the EU4Ocean Coalition funded by the European Union.
